About Us

Established in 1967, St. Michael’s College, Cherthala has grown by leaps and bounds into a renowned lyceum for higher learning under the prophetic guidance of its founder Rt. Rev. Dr. Michael Arattukulam and later under the patronage of his successors Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Chenaparambil and Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Athipozhiyil. For more than half a century, it has been the beacon light of wisdom for the postulants from the backward Latin Catholic community dotting the coastal areas of Alappuzha District. Located by the highway to Ernakulam on a sprawling 24 acres of lush green campus, it offers courses like B.A. English Literature, B.A. Economics, B.Com. with Computer Application, B.Sc. Zoology, B.Sc. Physics and B.Sc. Chemistry at the undergraduate level and M.A. Analytical Economics, M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry and M. Com Finance at the Post Graduate level. In addition, under the Learner Support Centre (MIMAT) the college offers courses like BBA, BCA, B.Com (CA) at the undergraduate level and MBA, MHRM, M.Com and PGDMM at the Post Graduate level. The college has also lately gained approval to commence B Voc courses and Community College which will offer skill based courses to its takers.
